Yawn

if you are fed up of intra-sital pop up windows, such as those at GeoCities & Tripod, then this could be the program for you. Even if you are not, you may find the code interesting if you want to determine at run time all windows, their sizes & titles. You will also find out how to visit a web site from a program. The program allows the user to specify window titles and/or sizes and will then sit in the background, scanning at a user defined interval for windows matching these criteria. When such a window is found, it is automatically closed and a log entry is made. For Windows 95 & 98.

There are many other excellent pop up closers, which have appeared since I began Yawn, but they are all implemented as Browser Helper Objects, which is fine if you use M$ Internet Explorer and not so fine if you use another browser. So, I will continue to promote & develop Yawn.

To do:

• Major - currently the windows list is updated and unwanted popups closed evey second. I want to change this to intercept requests to open new windows and deny unwanted popups the chance of opening. I haven't done so yet as Windows requires that it be implemented in a DLL and I have been reluctant to issue a DLL and a .EXE.
• Minimize to system tray (can be copied from my BCB_skel).
• Check home page for new version (can be copied from my BCB_skel).
• play sound, flash title bar when killing a window
• allow user to hold down a key (Say shift) while clicking & don't kill any windows if it is held down
